Remote Learning Resources

SHR follows all DOE guidelines regarding capacity of our building and practices.
We work closely with our Custodians and Kitchen Staff who follow their guidelines as well.  Families are involved via our PTA and SLT.

We are working on preparing schedules and practices for students to allow for social distancing, as well as reviewing entrances and exits for this.  Staff and students will be wearing masks while in our building, and we will reinforce hand washing and hand sanitizers.  Safety is our number one priority!
It is crucial that if someone is sick, they should stay at home and get tested if there is a suspicion of COVID-19.

IF SOMEONE IN THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY FEELS SICK

If a student or teacher is feeling sick, they are required to stay home and, if their symptoms are consistent with COVID-19, are asked to get tested. If a student begins experiencing symptoms in school, they will be isolated and monitored by a dedicated staff member until they are picked up by their family. Staff members who become symptomatic at school are asked to immediately leave the building.

Recently, the DOE has provided more information on  Health and Safety in schools.

DOE Building Health Screening

In response to the immediate needs of our students and families, Health Screening Form Completion videos have been created: English | Spanish | Chinese

All DOE employees, students, families, and visitors seeking to enter DOE buildings must complete a health screening before entering DOE facilities. This health screening must be completed on each day of arrival and results will reset at midnight of each day. Upon entering the facility you will be asked to provide the results of your screening either by showing your phone or a printout of the results.

TESTING AND TRACING

All staff members will be asked to take a COVID-19 test in the days before the first day of school. School staff will have priority access for testing at 34 city-run testing locations with tests provided free of charge and with expedited results. This testing is also available for families citywide.

Whether symptoms begin at home or in school, there will be a clear flow of information to facilitate fast action and prevent spread. A positive confirmed case will trigger an investigation by NYC Test + Trace and DOHMH to determine close contacts within the school. Schools will communicate to all families and students at school once a case is laboratory confirmed.

COVID-19 SCHOOL HEALTH POLICY

The COVID-19 Health and Safety document was developed collaboratively with unions, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), and NYC Test & Trace Corp, this policy provides guidance for schools regarding school threshold opening and closures, daily health screening, isolation rooms, showing signs of COVID-19, procedures of a confirmed case, and testing scenarios.
